Kristi Broz, LPC

Kristi Broz is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Play Therapist with experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. Kristi’s approach to counseling combines elements of client centered and cognitive behavioral therapy. She tailors these elements to meet the individual needs of each client she sees. She believes it is essential to know her clients as individuals and to develop trust and a sense of partnership with each client in order for therapy to be truly beneficial. She provides a safe and supportive environment that encourages clients to grow and work towards their goals.

Kristi received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Truman State University and a master’s degree in Counseling and Guidance from The University of Missouri-Kansas City. She has experience providing individual, group, and family therapy in her private practice and in psychiatric hospitals. Working as a counselor at Research Psychiatric Center, Truman Behavioral Health, and the Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault has given Kristi a broad base of experience.

After spending a few years working with clients of various ages, Kristi realized the therapeutic techniques used with adolescents and adults are often ineffective in reaching young children. As a result, Kristi decided to return to school to obtain specialized training in child therapy. Kristi received a post-graduate certification in Play Therapy from MidAmerican Nazarene University and completed the necessary training to become a Registered Play Therapist. She understands that children have different needs and means of communication than adults. Play Therapy is a vehicle through which her younger clients can safely and therapeutically resolve experiences and emotions they may not yet understand.

Kristi recognizes that each person has unique needs and she strives to guide and challenge her clients to successfully meet those needs. Her commitment to providing effective and compassionate care is the foundation of her private practice. Kristi invites you to take advantage of her expertise and join her in meeting your life’s challenges head on.

Kristi is a provider for several insurance plans and, as a courtesy, will also file insurance as an out-of-network provider for most insurance plans. She would be glad to discuss your insurance and billing needs with you when you schedule your first appointment.
